meet cute.

Say a man and a woman

 both need something

to sleep in and both

go to the same men's pajama department.

The man says to the salesman,

"I just need bottoms,"

and the woman says,

"I just need a top."

They look at each other

and that's the meet cute.

will the real slim shady please stand up?

I wrote a rap - Eminem style...
yeah, you heard me right.

We're actually pretty similar...

You speak, I see your words
the ones you swore I heard.
but what I prefer is to find a cure,
for the lines to blur
cause what we had  was never sure
but the cup is pourin' over too fast
erase the past, drown our pain
was it worth the fight for you to gain
my hate? This time we'll have to wait
for the track to lay cause
were running in a figure eight
and the planes thats comin's left the gate
across my heart - it blocked you from the start
now you did your part - tore my life apart
you've got it down to a fine art
but I'm too smart to let you in.
It'd be a sin to light within
the fire you ignited once again.
But still I hear your voice
yet with you my only choice is to catch a plane
so I must rejoice of freedom
from your brutal reign- of love in vain
that tortured pain but the blow
to my pride has me insane. I'm lost
and the price of loss is a cost I'd never cross
it's frost from the chill your touch has thrilled
but the metled ice has my cup refilled
I'm full and I'm staying strong
I'm flyin' right along -
now the air is right your touch is wrong-
why rhyme fresh words
to an old school song? I'm gone, I don't belong
though the love we had was long
I'll be in flight - take to the night
I'd curse your life but I'm too polite
so with this plight
 I'll take my flight
and leave you burnin' blazin' bright.

I didn't really know
how to end it but there ya go.

Yo Adrian

"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much can you take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done."

taylor swift my way.

1:34 at night and you're
running through my head.
I'm replaying our stupid fight
and all the things we left unsaid.

It's keepin me awake
cause I know the fault's on me
and I'm rememberin'
your sweet voice sayin' "Baby, Baby please"

Let it go
let it all go
Admit that your wrong.
Say you're sorry to my face
or we'll be here all night long.
Forget tonight
erase the fight
and kiss me in that crazy way
my hands are open wide for you
if you'll just meet me halfway.

My stubborn mind
is standing firm on
those angry thoughts of you
but dreaming of your
lips on mine just makes me
come unglued.

Cause when I'm mad at you
I end up wanting you instead
replaying the way your blue eyes shined
as you looked at me and said

Let it go
let it all go
Admit that your wrong.
Say you're sorry to my face
or we'll be here all night long.
Forget tonight
erase the fight
and kiss me in that crazy way
my hands are open wide for you
if you'll just meet me halfway.

My phone starts flashing
its your words reading
baby come outside
I'll be waiting there for you
whatever you decide

So I run straight out the door
and throw away my pride
feeling your hand tightly wound with mine
as you listen to me say

I've let it go
let it all go.
I'm admitting that I'm wrong.
I'm saying sorry to your face
so please hold me all night long.
Forget tonight
erase the fight
and kiss me in that charming way.
My hands are reaching out for you
if you'll meet me  halfway.

Oh let it go
baby I've let it go.

My hands are reaching out for you
if you'll just meet me halfway

I've let it go baby just meet me halfway.
halfway baby
just meet me halfway.

haha so obviously I'm not as good as her but I just thought it would be interesting to write my own version of a Taylor Swift song.

so this was a Laura original

mood medicine.

"On a bad day
have mood swings -
but on a good day
 I have the whole
mood playground"

Lets just be real, I can get in a bad mood pretty easily. I took a personality test a couple days ago and it told me I was drawn to sadness and self sabotage. Ummm let's hope that's not true!

But anyway here are just a few things that (without fail ) can get me out of a bad mood.

1. Riding in the car with your music cranked up super loud and beautiful weather can fix a lot (as long as I'm not tense from scary traffic)

When I was on my way home for Thanksgiving I was seriously having such a good time just being by myself, driving through the beautiful mountains and then passing the sun shining off of Lake Norman with a good playlist on my iPod. I had some country music going, some backstreet boys, rapped a little bit, belted out some ballads and it didn't matter because I was all alone didn't have a care in the world. I really needed that drive home just to get a break for a couple hours.

2. Starbucks. Oh, coffee.

3. It's also such a good feeling to see old friends. Even after a long time apart you can still have awesome conversations and you still have stuff in common and lots to talk about. It's just a nice feeling to have people that even if you don't see them for a while you can still talk as if you see them all the time.

4. Family is better than anything. I loved seeing my grandparents and giving them big hugs and my sweet little cousins. Just goofing around, playing card games, decorating the tree, it's so relaxing and you just get to be yourself around your family. My Dad went and got us the new kinect xbox dance game and I like cried laughing watching my Mom and Dad dance. It was hilarious.

So anywho...
all I'm saying is
don't let a bad mood ruin your day!
Find a way to get out of it.
Good music, good coffee or good people - sometimes that's all you need!

in a world of 100

this video is really interesting and definitely makes you think.

remember to be thankful this holiday season.

November 24, 2010

For each new morning with its light,

For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thank you is probably one of the top most uttered phrases in America.

Thanks for holding the door open
Thanks for the ride
Thanks for the piece of gum
Thank you for dinner

At times "thank you" can feel repetitive

like when the waiter refills everyone's water glass at a table 0f fifteen and each person feels the need to say "thank you" after every pour.

He gets it...
no really.

But when you think about it, those two little overused words can mean a lot to someone.
When Thanksgiving rolls around it makes me realize how blessed my life really is, in big things and small.

I'm thankful for the corny jokes I hear when I come home
and refillable coffee out of a fresh brewed pot.

I'm thankful for my education.
The opportunities it has and will give me and the knowledge I'd be useless without.

I'm thankful for the way my hair smells when I wash it
and buying a new nail polish color.

I'm thankful for my siblings.
The  hugs, jokes, songs, stories, games, trips, smiles and laughter that makes up my life....everything that makes it amazing.

I'm thankful for the scent of a new car
and when someone waves at me from across campus.
I'm thankful for a dog that will warm up my feet when he sleeps on them
and being able to appreciate Harry Potter.

I'm thankful for sarcasm,
it gets me through a lot.

I'm thankful for sounding like a dork
and saying "thanky".

I'm thankful for the country I live in. The liberty and equality it represents and the freedom that I take for granted every day.

I'm thankful for afghan blankets because they're so cozy but not too hot
and when the temperature outside is just right so you blend in.

I'm thankful for life.
Sometimes it can be cut short, and who knows if mine will be, but for now I'm thankful for each day I get to spend here.

I'm thankful for good music and chap-stick so my lips stay smooth.

I'm thankful for converses, skinny jeans
and earrings that touch my shoulders.

I'm thankful for my parents.
They're so fun to be around and have a godly, loving relationship that I really admire. They have blessed me with more then I ever dreamed of and I love them so much.

I'm thankful for cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and huge get-togethers.

I'm thankful for playing cards, bop-it
and the adrenaline I feel when I ride a roller-coaster.

I'm thankful for being able to write cheesy stuff like this on my blog and being able to sound like someone off of Full House

I'm thankful for my dance moves
and doodling when class gets boring.

I'm thankful for my religion.
The love of Jesus, the hope it gives me, the solidarity in my values and the need to share the wealth.

I'm thankful for stuffing my face with food on this amazing food oriented holiday.

I'm thankful for day planners so I can buy one and pretend to stay organized and being able to watch the food network.

I'm thankful for my friends.
They're always there to listen, advise, joke with, laugh and cry with and they mean so much to me.

I'm thankful for family
I'm thankful for friends
I'm thankful for life
I'm thankful for love

I'm thankful for it all.

So I got to go to the inauguration with Lindy and a bunch of my friends almost two years ago (WOW) and watching this video never gets old! This will seriously be one of the coolest things I've ever done in my life and the video is pretty awesome.

I don't know if the link will work unless you're friends with Lindy on facebook but

here's the link  ---->     VIDEO OBAMA VIDEO CHANGE CHANGE VIDEO

p.s. If you don't watch it you're totally missing out...

pumpkin crunch.

I love the corny comments I hear when I come home...

Mom: "have you tried the pumpkin crunch I made?"

Me: "No, not yet. I'm not a big fan of pumpkin..."

Dad: "Yeah I hate pumpkin, I kick pumpkins every time I see them...but I loved it!"

poem on a postcard

A poem made up about
a  relationship
in years past
when romance was forever
and letters were treasured.

November 21, 2010

I can not WAIT to go home for thanksgiving!

November 18, 2010

don't you come back no more...

Empty Handed

Hit the road Jack...

The irony of your name
is not lost upon me
as the car backs down the driveway,
runs over my future
and leaves me in solitude behind your wheels.

I know it is best for you to leave

but loneliness is beating me up
and the strikes upon my heart
have my emotions
waving their little picket signs
demanding your return.

Deep down all I want to do
is charge after you
and send that
way too familiar
electric current
running up your arms

but my roots have
buried themselves into the ground
unconsciously reinforced from a childhood
filled with repetitious reminders
about self control.

So with nothing but my independence
I'm  left stranded on the asphalt
where my shattered dreams of us
lay cold and lifeless
in tiny metal pieces.

Carelessly I pick them up in my hand
and with all my effort
toss them where you should be.

After all,  it's not my game we're playing...

it's Jack's.

beyond excited

So kids, today I had a meeting with the head of the Graphic Design department and he threw the punch that helped officially shatter my dream of being a graphic designer.

Long story short he used a lot of curse words, told me to "be the goat", asked me to imagine having a rich uncle James who died and gave me his fortune, decided I should be a magazine editor and then when I left the room he told me to call him when I'm rich and famous.

It was bizarre.

But in the end he helped me realize that graphic design wasn't actually my dream...
Writing is! I love writing, spend my free time doing it and am really relieved to be dead set on my major. YAY!!!

So on that note, I'm kind of beyond excited about my schedule for next semester.

POETRY WRITING CLASS - awesomely amazing - it won't even feel like work

WHAT IF HARRY POTTER WAS REAL - Need I say more? I'm crossing my fingers we will get sorted! AH that would be WICKED.

BIO - I hate science but the rate my professor site says he's a great teacher and there's no attendance policy - aka perfection.

2 COMM classes - Comm Ethics and Mass Comm, they probably won't be the most fun classes ever but at least finally getting into my major!

and the cherry on top is...

November 14, 2010

˙ʇuɐʍ noʎ op ʇɐɥʍ

˙ʇuɐʍ noʎ op ʇɐɥʍwhat do you want.

Do you ever get the pocket of your jacket or your clothes caught on something?

You're walking around and suddenly your pocket catches the knob of a drawer or the side of a counter and you're wrenched backwards out of the blue?

I feel like that's what want does.

It tugs at the corners of your mind like a piece of yarn stitching up your thoughts,
this way
then that way
then this way
then that.

It makes you feel like someone wrapped a rope around your stomach and yanked it backwards towards your spine.

A drop of ink in a cup of water -
want disperses into your being like a puff of black smoke
scattered into a million stands of midnight color
finding their way into every gap
and hidden corner of your mind.

It makes your brain an insomniac, a sleep deprived machine with no off button.

It's the rain splashing on your car window
and the rhythm of the windshield wipers
that has you lulled into the simplicity
of thinking these overused thoughts.

Wants addicting.

There it goes again...
driving you insane.

November 13, 2010

love & coffee.

"All you need is LOVE "...
and  a  delicious cup of coffee
                                                to go with it.

all you need is love, love. Love is all you need...

November 12, 2010

The doorbell wakes me up...
I didn't know you were coming over.
The clock in the corner reads 1:23
and I cringe at the chronological order
that messes with my head.

I'm not the kind of person
to leave you on the doorstep,
but I know you would
run over me
with freight train force,
so I lay the tracks and let you enter.

It know it would've been easier to sip
coffee in silence and ignore
the whistle of that metal engine
whipping past us
stirring up our old memories
but our relationship was never easy.

When the coffee’s done brewing
I offer you hazelnut cream
but I quickly become aware
that all you've poured into your cup
is a few splashes of sarcasm
and a hint of sickly sweet remarks.

You take a gulp and prop
yourself up on the kitchen counter
diagonally mocking me
like a chess piece
waiting to make a move.
(The patterned tiles don't help the illusion)

I lean back and look away
pretending that
I'm not falling to pieces.
But I was put back together
with a glue-stick after all
and everyone knows those never do.

My mind is telling me
to derail the train,
to leave the room,
to scream until I'm speechless
but the truth is
I don't want to.

You cross the board with that charm
that always got to me.
(our coffee has gone cold)
The clock in the corner reads 1:55.

random facts.

you may not have known...

I love seeing funny movies. The hangover, best of Will Ferrell, I love it all. I kind of have a perverted sense of humor. I even like family guy. Seriously, laughing is one of my favorite things to do. I laugh a lot like to the point where my eyes start to water uncontrollably.

Random fact - in middle school I used to get in trouble for laughing because I would have random fits of laughter that I seriously could not control. They took over and they've started to come back! AH!

I love taking a baths. I put on some John Mayer or Michael Buble and just sit there..ahh, yes.

Random fact - getting out of the bath and stepping onto the cold tile is one of my least favorite things to do. BRRR! I wish I could get picked up, wrapped like an enchilada like when I was little.

I love brand new little puppies and their bellies. I don't know why but they're so cute and I love how soft they are like Rocky was when I got him for Christmas.

Random fact - I pretty much begged for a dog my sophomore year Christmas. My parents COMPLETELY surprised me and carried him down wrapped up in this Santa hat.

I love that feeling when you wake up on a day when you know you can sleep in so you stretch, sigh, cuddle back up and casually decide to go back to sleep.

Random fact - My ears have to be covered when I'm going to sleep or else I can't fall asleep.

I love that victory "yeah, I'm awesome" feeling when you score in a sport. I'm not the most athletic person ever but there is nothing like that feeling when you make a basket, get a run, or add anything to the score for that matter.

Random fact - I'm left handed but I bat and catch with my right hand in softball

I love looking cute. If I dress cute it puts me in a better mood because I feel more confident.

Random fact - I wear black A LOT because I have hyperhydrosis
(aka I sweat WAY more than anyone should).
It grosses a lot of people out but I'm I can't help it and I'm used to it by now so if it creeps you out then don't hang out with me k? cool :)

I actually love to cry. It relieves stress, makes me sleep better, makes me relax and sometimes you just need to do it.

Random fact - for a girl, I don't cry very easily. I don't know why I guess it's because I'm not very sympathetic (which sounds bad but its the truth). If I see someone crying that I care for though, that'll probably make me cry.

I love rap music. I like to memorize the words because I'm a dork that way I can rap along with the song.

Random fact - people call me white chocolate.
just kidding...
but really.

I love group dances. YMCA, Cha cha slide, cupid shuffle, electric slide, line dances or all dancing along to Party in the USA. There's nothing like an entire group of people acting like a bunch of morons doing really easy dance moves. SO much fun.

Random fact - I have hidden dance skillz. You're lucky if you've ever seen my moves.
(this is everyone dancing at Ashley and John's wedding)

just a little bit about me...
